My counseling approach
How I approach Christian counseling
My work grew from serving in parish bereavement support and accompanying families through seasons of change. I later completed focused study in Christian counseling and spiritual care. I tend to begin by listening to the story of the relationship, the loss, and what daily life looks like now. We might talk about anniversaries, returning to work, family expectations, or the pressure to appear further along than you feel. I do not use a timetable for grief. Together we consider what support is helpful, what is draining, and which small rhythms are worth keeping. My perspective is shaped by the Catholic tradition. Some people want prayer woven into each conversation; others need room to speak honestly about silence, uncertainty, or anger. I ask about those preferences early and return to them as our work continues. Scripture and the language of lament can be resources without becoming explanations for another person's suffering.
